 What happened to diff pair gathering in 16.5?

    What happened to diff pair gathering in 16.5? Reply

    What the heck has happened to diff pair gathering when routing from a pair of vias in 16.5? The two traces used to gather immediatly from the vias but now I'm getting very awkward routing that doesn't gather from the vias and it doesn't center itself. I'm even getting varying results from layer to layer. I have searched for any setting that may affect this but haven't found any. Am I missing something or is this a known problem? This used to work great in 16.2 :-(

    Have a look at User Preferences - Etch - padentry_factor which controls this.

    I tried that setting in increments of 10 from 0-100 and it didn't seem to have any effect.

    Funny thing is if i route east/west the diff pair will not gather at 45 from the pads. (first pic)

    If I route north/south the diff pair will gather at 45 from the pads for a short distance although

    it does not center the pair between pads, it snaps to grid from the control trace. (second pic)

    What Hotfix are you running from Help - About ? If it is 16.5 S024 then talk to Cadence / Channel Partner about this. If it's 16.5 P0XXX then get the latest hotfix from Cadence\Channel Partner then try again. It works as expected for me....

    I'm running 16.5 SO25 which is the latest hotfix.
