The latest version is attached.

This contains just a minor change to improve performance when changing several pre-processing options.

The instructions have also changed slightly. In a Windows system you must use the MAGICK_HOME system variable.

Thanks Craig for your feedback.

Oops. Looks like a bug. I'm away from work until next week. I'll try to sort it out then.

Dave, is there any solution? Still facing the same problem and feeling very strange because of the skill file works fine at my colleague's pc. Both pc's have Allegro PCB design L v16.01.

Hi Shiva,

This happens because I have some code duplicated between utilities. You must be running my addAttachedText code. Both share a function called AFn_formIntSlideBar but the version of that function in addAttachedText doesn't use the units key value. The easiest way for you to fix this is to load logoMaker AFTER you load addAttachedText in your ilinit file. ALternatively, take the AFn_formIntSlideBar function from logoMaker and replace the code in addAttachedText.

Regards, Dave

eDave,

Is there a reason why I am not able to download the file you posted? I click on it and I get a page does not exist error.

Thanks.

Hi Tim,

I have attached the zip file to this post and also sent the utility to you in a separate email.

I can't see attachments either. Is that feature broken Mr System Moderator?

Regards, Dave

Sorry for late reply.

Dave, You are correct. I have modified AFn_formIntSlideBar function in addAttachedText file as per your suggestion and now the logomaker works good. Many many thanks for you. It was great experience.

Best regards,

Shiva.

Hi Dave,

I have installed Imagemagick in C:\Program Files\ImageMagick-6.7.0-Q16 and potrace download form http://potrace.sourceforge.net/download/potrace-1.8.win32-i386.zip. potrace.exe and mkbitmap.exe files are placed in C:\utils\potrace. In the environment variable i have set the path to potrace in variable value as C:\utils\potrace and imagemagic as C:\Program Files\ImageMagick-6.7.0-Q16.when i run the skill below plugin message is appear... is there any problem in install plugin... if any pls send me the plugin file you used before.

Plugins
=======

The LogoMaker Skill utility makes use of three free utilities that need to be
installed before use:

1/ potrace - Download the executable from:
http://potrace.sourceforge.net/download
http://potrace.sourceforge.net/download/potrace-1.8.win32-i386.zip (Windows)

set the POTRACE_PATH environment variable to the path to the executable
eg. C:\utils\potrace

2/ mkbitmap - Distributed with the potrace utility

3/ ImageMagick
- Download and install the precompiled release suitable for your platform from:
This may not be necessary as ImageMagick is pre-installed on many systems
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php
http://www.imagemagick.org/download/binaries/ImageMagick-6.5.3-Q16-windows.zip

set the MAGICK_HOME environment variable to the path to the convert executable
eg. C:\utils\ImageMagick\ImageMagick-6.5.1-3

It should be working if you followed the instructions. I have tested it in Windows 7.
I can't see your images to be able to identify the problem.

You probably want to download potrace-1.9.win32.zip and ImageMagick-6.7.0-Q16-windows.zip

;  Installation instructions:

; Download and install the latest precompiled potrace release suitable for your platform:
;                                http://potrace.sourceforge.net/download
; set the POTRACE_PATH environment variable to the path to the executable
;                                eg. C:\utils\potrace
;
; Download and install the latest precompiled ImageMagick release suitable for your platform
; This may not be necessary if you use Linux as ImageMagick is often included in Linux installations:
;                                http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php"
;                                eg. http://www.imagemagick.org/download/binaries/ImageMagick-6.5.3-Q16-windows.zip
; Set the MAGICK_HOME environment variable to the path to the convert executable.
;                                eg. C:\utils\ImageMagick\ImageMagick-6.5.1-3
;
; Install logoMaker_public.il into your skill folder.
; Add load("logoMaker_public.il") to the allegro.ilinit file in your pcbenv folder.
;
;  Running within Allegro:
; Type logomaker in the command window.

Re: LogoMaker - improved, and now multi-platform. Reply

I just successfully installed and used logomaker on two Windows XP machines and wanted to post what worked and didn't work.

1) %MAGICK_HOME% pointing to "C:/Program Files/ImageMagick-6.7.0-8" wouldn't work, I'm assuming because of the space in the path. When typing "logomaker" in Allegro, I would get the instructions page instead of the logomaker utility opening. Placing potrace and imagemagick at "C:/utils/..." did work, though, after I reopened ProjMgr and Allegro.

2) Loading .jpg files into logomaker, I would recommend unchecking "Preprocess". I was inserting solid black FCC and Telec logos and using "preprocess" seemed to do an edge detect, whereas I wanted solid logos.

3) For some reason, once I place the symbols and exit the application, I can't move the symbols. I do a move command, with Find=Symbol, but when I click the final destination, the symbol snaps back to its original location.

The logo symbols are fixed by default. You can unfix them to move. You can also un-tick the "Fix Symbol" check box when placing the symbol. Dave
