Part alternative in Schematic (switching Vertical - Horizontal) Reply

    Hi all,

I built a Capacitor in Vertical form (tolerance, value, voltage,.. are aligned), as a result of rotating this cap in shematic to Horizontal the tolerance text, value texts,.. are not aligned. Any suggestions to deal with this issue ?

    Thanks,

    Th

If you are really concerned about this, build another Capacitor symbol, or create a "convert view" of the existing symbol - in which case, when you place the part, you can select the Normal, or Convert, View. In a CIS database you can specify more that one symbol to use and have a Vertical, or Horizontal, version to choose from.

    Hi Dhamodharann, oldmouldy.

    Thanks for your comments.

I haven't got you mean on "create a "convert view"" , does it mean that i place a part created in  vertical  to Shematic then rotate it to Horizontal and realign property text  then i have 2 symbols with texts aligned ?

I had known the function ALT_SYMBOL in Layout, now i would concern whether it available in Schematic or not.

Another question i would address is that how to setup reading orientation for properties text ?. In my current schematic it offsets to part orientation. Whilest schemtic reference, it offsets to datum coordinate, no matter how part orienation is, text is still in 1 way reading (upper to lower, left to right).

I am new to Allegro from Pads that my terms may not suitalbe to yours.

    Thanks,

    Th.

When you create a Schematic Part, there is a "Create Convert View" option, usually unchecked. If you edit an existing Schematic Part, Options>Package Properties will get you to the Package Properties and you can check the "Create Convert View". Take a look at "Creating a Convert" in the Capture Users Guide, cap_ug.pdf in the doc\capug directory of the installation. When a part is placed, you will have a choiuce of placing the Normal, or Convert, part if a Convert exists, if a part is placed, you will have the option of changing the view to Convert, if a Convert View exists.
