    reseting instance labels Reply

    Hi all.

Is there any way to reset all the labels (instance names) in a schematic view hierarchially?

     Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "Reset all the labels"?

    Andrew.

Hi Andrew. Thanks for your time looking at it.

What I am think is something more like the schHiRenumberInstances() function but with the ability to renumber an instance's label even if it has been defined by the user. For example, suppose a transistor has an instance name as mdummy; the function schHiRenumberInstances() would not replace this label when involked and that's what I would like this (new) function/procedure to do and, if possible, hierarchially.

     Regards,

OK, your use of the word "labels" was a bit confusing - these aren't "labels" (which are a specific object type in the database) but names. I now understand what you're after.

I don't think there's anything built-in to do this - you'd have to write it yourself. Or contact customer support to ask for an enhancement to allow it to optionally rename components which have been explicitly named (if done, this would be for a future major release, I'd guess).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
