    how encounter handles max_skew value during CTS Reply
    Can some one clarify the following for me.

    1. Does encounter optimizes the skew between any two flipflop under the same clock domain for the specified skew value or does it optimizes the skew between the lanuch and capture flops only.
    2. What the design requirement to give a more stringent skew value. Is it just to avoid the porblem of the fast datapath in the design??can't i set the skew value to half clock cycle if it satisfies my hold time requirements?

    as far as i know, CTS will try to balance all the flops in the tree. so you may have a certain skew value for the whole design, but the skew between launch/capture might actually be much better, and that is the skew that matters.

    if you are meeting timing, then the global skew number does not really matter. in fact, sometimes "useful skew" is employed, meaning, making the skew worse is ok, if it helps the design meet timing.
