Editing symbols 

Greetings,

A newbie here. I have used Orcad for a very little while, so a learning curve. I placed a transformer on the page, and want to remove the "pin numbers' from the symbol. How do I go about this? I have done the right click on the lead, then edit properties, hihlighted the "name" colum and get lost after that. I have tried to find the answer in the help menu, but....

Please, HELP!!

Thanks, Dave. OK, can anyone who knows Capture help me, please. I'm only wanting to draw the circuit diagram, and not proceed to the layout. Because of this, I don't need the pin numbers showing for the transformer and/or the pilot lamp. I found a bridge rectifier without the pin numbers, and that appealed to me. So, where to now? Any helpers out there?!

Can do - -

Select the part on your schematic - RMB - select "Edit part" from pop-up menu.  This will open the part editor.

Then go to menu  Options - part properties which will open a window showing all the part properties.

Select "Pin Numbers Visible" property from the list and set the value to "False".  Exit with "OK"

Then exit the part editor window and select the appropriate save - all instances selection.

No more pin numbers showing on schematic for that part!

I did what you suggested. However,... I did notice when doing thids, the numbers in blue went away, but I'm still left with numbers in black.

Can I upload the circuit here for you to see what I'm getting at? Or can I pm you with it? I also noticed that sometimes the edit part is greyed out.

There are two pin properties on symbols in Capture.  The "pin number" and also a "pin name".  Not sure what your color setup might be, but typically the "pin number" is in black and shown outside symbol graphic.  The "pin name" is typically blue and shown inside the symbol graphic.  The "pin name" is text, but can also be just a 1,2,3 etc. depending on where you got the symbol/library and who designed it.  Perhaps that is what you are looking at?

You can try the same edit on "Pin Names Visible" property and see if that makes them dissappear.

As for the greyed out "edit part",  sounds like you may have it already open in the editor window?  If so, when you try to select it again in your schematic window, it will not be available.

Otherwise, I'm a long time user of the full versions.  I am not familiar with the limitations imposed by the "Lite" version.  If you care to upload your "dsn" file here, I can take a look.
