    is there a way i can get rid of the assiatnt on the side of my layout view everytime i open it? and how to have  a bind key to have lsw pop in/out.

    You can configure your assistants and toolbars the way you want them and save them under the Window->Workspaces menu. Once you've saved a configuration you like (including an empty one), you can then set one to be the default. The F11 bindkey can be used to toggle the visibility of the assistants.

    You could also set a bindkey to call a command to enable one of your named workspaces:

    deSetWorkspace(
    w_window
    t_workspaceName
     )
         => t / nil

     Thanks Derek. been stuck with the old 5.1.xxx release and recently updated to the 6.1.xxx, so far i'm just getting the hang of it.
