 Abstract generator pin step issue: no pins created

    Abstract generator pin step issue: no pins created Reply

    Hi,

    I am using AG in IC61. When I ran the pin step for my inverter layout, the warning ABS-502 stated that no pins is created. I don't see anything wrong with my setting of "map text lables to pins" (I also tried "((text drawing) (M1 drawing))"). Here I attach the screenshot of my issue. The blue color in layout is M1. Thanks in advance.

    I can't see any picture - please attach it using the Options tab at the top.

    Yes, I can see the picture now. It says that there are already terminals in the database - so presumably there's no need to create pins because they exist already?

    (note, I don't know the abstract generator that well, so maybe somebody else can chime in).

    Thanks, Andrew. Your hint is very helpful. I thought the warning means AG couldn't specify the pins I draw in layout. Now instead of previously creating pin shapes, I put text labels on Metal1, and this way cleans out the warning msg. 

    Besides, I have new question if you don't mind. After finish running the "Abstract" step, I checked the abstracted layout and noticed that there is only M1 layer left while the rest is all gone. But the layout from its last step "Extract" doesn't lose anything. There is no warning msg regarding to this case, and I think all layers should be defined already. Thanks again.
