    Hi,

    I have a problem plotting simulation results in ADE GXL when accessing Cadence on a remote computer via ssh with X forwarding. 

    My simulations run OK, but when I plot the results a blank graph window appears and then my local X session freezes. I can't alt-ctrl-backspace or alt-ctrl-f2 out and have to do a hard restart to get the computer to respond again, although the mouse usually remains responsive. This doesn't happen if I VNC to the Cadence computer. Over VNC the results are displayed correctly and the session keeps going as normal. 

    Cadence version: IC6.1.4.500.6
    Cadence installed under: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.8
    My local computer: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Workstation release 6.2
    My graphics card: GeForce 310. Nvidia drivers 275.09.07.
    X set up: 2 screens running separate x sessions spanned with Xinerama. 

    Has anyone had a similar problem? I've not been able to work out whether it's a problem with Cadence or with my X set up.

    You probably need to set this before starting virtuoso:

    setenv CDS_WAVESCAN_OPENGL "-Dsun.java2d.opengl=False"

    See solution 11610986 for more details. Essentially this works around a problem with the version of Java used in the waveform tool in IC614 (it's a Java problem, not strictly a Cadence problem). It certainly looks like the symptoms I've seen before. With VNC, the Java is being handled completely on the remote end.
