    Rectangular Pads Reply

    Hi All,

I have a problem related to rectangular pads in orcad 10. The problem is how to get drill (cut) to rectangular pad in rectangular shape(Vertical y-axis) as the orcad supports only round drills. The part is from OMRON i.e. LY2N with Mouser part Number 653-LY2N-AC220-240. I need your suggestions or proposed solution.

     Thanks in advance.

Why don't you use a oblong shaped pad (round at each end).

    Hi Steve,

The problem is not with the pad. problem is about drill hole if i select drill size of 0.8mm manufacturer will only drill in the center of the pad nothing else.

The component pad width is 244mils and pad height is 100mils how to drill this pad if drill size is of 0.8mm and it should cut the pad 100mils above and below from (0,0) axis of pad.

    Regards

    Babar

Orcad Layout (v 10) is a very old tool and does not let you add slots for drills. You could update to PCB Editor (which can add a slots) or draw something manually around the circle drill (as the centre) and add a note for the fabricator to slot this.
