    ADE Licence Management Reply
I am looking for a way to manage our ADE licence such that it is released once user A is done with his task and user B can grab the licence without waiting for user A to manually checkin the licence. Is there an environment variable that I can set using the envSetVal("asimenv[.partition]" "variable" 'datatype value) command format in my .cdsinit and not worry about licence sharing anymore? I understand this may slow down the ADE environment, but I can live with that.

If the ADE window is closed, the license will be checked in. You should not need to manually check in the license (in fact you can't in later IC61X versions).

In addition you could set a TIMEOUT in the license server options file to automatically time out the license after a period of inactivity (the minimum is 3600 seconds, ie 1 hour) in case the user forgets to close the ADE window. The timeout can be applied to whichever license features you choose.

    Best Regards,

    Andrew

Hi Andrew, Thank you for your prompt reply. So, unlike Spectre, I cannot use a command like envSetVal("spectre.envOpts" "controlMode" 'string "batch") for ADE? Could you please guide me how to setup the timeout parameter for the licence server? Best Regards, Yaser

    Hi Yaser,

The documentation covers this, here's a link to the relevant information: Specifying License Timeouts

Specifically there is a section that talks about the TIMEOUT option:

    Timing Out Idle Licenses

To have products return their licenses to the license pool when they are idle, add a TIMEOUT line to the options file.
    ...
If your product supports TIMEOUT, you can set a maximum amount of time (in seconds) that a license can remain inactive.
        TIMEOUT feature seconds

I hope that this helps you.

    Regards,

    Lawrence.
