PSpice installation on Windows 7 Reply

I tried to install PSpice 9.1 Student Version on my Windows 7 and I always get the same problem. I doubleclick the setup.exe file but the installation never starts. I tried running it as an admin or using compatibility modes, but it doesn't help. The setup appears in the task manager, but it doesn't run. Does anyone know what to do with that?

Try the following - Select setup.exe and from RMB (right mouse button) use "Run as Administrator"

I think that you may find that the 9.x, and earlier versions, use a 16-bit installer for the 32-bit applications, Windows 7 won't run a 16-bit application - other users have reported getting a message that the application "is not a 32 bit application or a 64 bit compatible application" You need to get the latest software installed to work with Windows 7.

Just checked again - PSpice Student version 9.1 with web update 2 - installs and works fine - on Windows 7 (32bit) if you use "Run as Administrator" on setup.exe . It will give you a warning after install but you can select that application is installed correctly. Your problem may be specific to machine.

You can also pick the 16.3 demo from http://www.cadence.com/products/orcad/pages/downloads.aspx#pspice - there is a specific Capture/PSpice bundle.

I had the exact same problem, windows 7 64-bit as well.

Turned out all I needed to do was shut down Google Chrome, apparently. The minute I closed Chrome, the setup screen popped-up.

Don't know why, but it worked.

Same problem (Windows 7 32 bits).

Similar root cause as reported by Felipe (thanks to him) but in my case it was because I had open VLC media player (v 1.1.10).

TRY CLOSING every program before launching the installer.

     Cheers, Fabio

I had no problem with running the installation, and everything looked fine. However the libraries did not install. Any ideas?

I assume you have installed Lite version of PSpice. In Lite(demo) version only a small set of libraries are shipped.

Yes, I installed the demo version. However, after installation the program won't run because it says it cannot find any libraries. I installed this siftware many times before and this never happened. Maybe i the problem is with the particular machine.

You should try 16.5 version of OrCAD Lite. This is supported on Windows 7 and offer more capabilities than 9.1 release.

You can download this from http://www.cadence.com/products/orcad/pages/downloads.aspx

     Hi all,

I have been having the same problems with installing PSPICE.  I tried running at administrator but I got the same problem with the setup.exe never showing up.

I tried installing the full ORcad suite instead but the installer keeps saying it has CRC errors.  Any ideas guys?  I need PSPICE working soon for a project.
