    Package creation - Allegro Reply

Prepare for a very basic question:  Does anyone know of a good tutorial that tells me how to create a new footprint?  I (think I) understand how to modify the padstack, but I'm not sure where or how to enter a footprint for a part that's not in the default library.  For example, I would like to enter a TQFP-100 package footprint in PCB Editor, and I just can't figure out where to begin.  I'm using version 16.3.  I know this is a basic question - thanks for your patience!

Probably a bit hidden but take a look in your install path under "doc\algrolibdev" and find the pdf file. Should be a good start.

Very quick start, File->New then choose Package Symbol Wizard.

Build a part -- anything.  Then go back and edit the part and play around with the menus and see what the wizard created.  Be aware these are the bare minimum items needed.

This is exactly what I needed.  I knew about the algrolibdev folder, but I just needed to know to go to file->new to find the package symbol editor.  It seems obvious in retrospect, but I just couldn't find it.  Thanks!

I would suggest you learn each of the File->New types that are there.  You are going to need to need each type sometime in your development process. :)
