Auto Net Assign - Constraint Driven Algorithm Reply

    Hi all,

I am using APD16.2, and would like to ask about where and how to set the contraint for auto net assign features used.

Is the constraint set with cmgr? If it is so, can I add my custom requirement so that the ball assignment can based that custom requirement?

    Pls advise.

    Thanks,

    Alice

    Hi Alice.

The Auto Net Assign Constraint Driven Algorithm uses the existing APD/SiP constraints (min/max length, match length, etc), but uses a "costing" file to determine which constraint or design factor should be given higher priority when doing assignment. The user-editable file is located in

    {software location}\share\pcb\text\tech\strategy.txt

    Hi Bill,

Looks like I need to explore the strategy.txt first. Many thanks for the advice, will go to you again if I have any problem on this. =)

     Regards,

    Alice

Let me know how it works for you. The intent was to provide an assignment algorithm that would take into account CM values, but not be "caught in an endless loop" if it was given conflicting rules or a solution that would not converge.
