    Try deleting the nc_param.txt file and recreate it.


    Which specific version of the editor is being used? You can find that information from Help >About.

    Hey Rik,

    Thanks. Even I was getting the same error and upon deleting the nc_param file, it got rid of it.

    But I still get an error while creating the artwork. Upon selecting Manufacture\Artwork, I do a "Select All" and hit Create Artwork. Pls find the artwork Error logfile below. I don't understand why this file says OUTPUT-UNITS to be inches and the NC Drill Legend Output unit talks about mils? I am afraid if I am mixing it up somewhere.

    With artwork you have the capability to output either Inches or Millimeter data. This setting should match what your design is in (Setup >Design Parameters; Design tab) where the artwork parameter inches should be used with design in Mils or Inches. Other design units should use the artwork format of Millimeters.

    Your drill legend can be output in any unit that is listed in the pulldown for "Output unit". As this is just a textual output it can be whatever you like.

    The warning "WARNING: database resolution exceeds the resolution of the output coordinates (see FORMAT in parameter file)" relates to the database resolution and the format you are using for your artwork. 

    A MILS database with an accuracy of 0 is the equivalent of INCHES with 3 places of accuracy (.001 inches) so your artwork format should be Integer 2 Decimal 3 for Vector based artwork. For Raster based artwork, which wants the artwork output to be 1 decimal place greater than the design units, that would be Integer 2 decimal 4

    Hi Rik, Thanks for all the info. I changed the format to 2.3 but it still gives the same error. The end of the logfile says "INPUT-UNITS INCHES WHEEL 1 ARTWORK Error reading apertures". So I guess the aperture settings need to be changed? In Apertures tab, I have '1" under Wheels. Your help is much appreciated. -- kf

    I will assume you are generating vector (6x00, or 4x00) artwork.
    Do you have an art_aper.txt file in the directory or the path specified by your artpath variable?
    When you are in the "Edit Aperture Wheels" GUI select 'OK'.An art_aper.txt file will be created.

    If this does not work select from the Allegro menu Tools >Utilities> Env variables. A list will be presented to you. Save this file and attach it to a new message or send it to riklee@cadence.com along with a number I can reach you at.

    Artwork create error related to Aperture Reply
    The solution to the above problem was that the Apertures were not defined. Had to goto Artwork, select Apertures, Edit and select Auto->with Rotation. Now after hitting 'OK' on all open forms, had to hit Create Artwork again which created the Artwork successfully. Thanks to Rik for all his help. Posted here for a quick fix for others with same problem. Regards, kf

    Thanks! I had to come and search for the same error I was etting. This fixed mine as well, is this something that is suppoed to be done the first time Gerbers are created? This is the first time I've tried to generate Gerbers. We have some other new installs so I assume we'll all need to do this.

    Use the RS274X format for Artwork and never be bothered by Aperture definition issues again!

    Thanks, that's what I've always used 274X for Mentor, just wasnt sure if that was the right choice with this tool.
