    runQRC for OA flow Reply

    Hi all,

I have OpenAccess flow in encounter. For signoff timing, I am using signoff extraction using runQRC in SocEncounter 8.1. From the document:

The following command extracts RC parasitics using technology file qrc.tch, and cell library file library_new, and generates a reduced SPEF file qrc.spef:

    runQRC -outputFileName qrc.spef -techFile qrc.tch
       -libraryName ./library_new

When using the above command for signoff extraction in OA flow, what is the library_new should be? I tried to list the name of OA lib of standard cells but it gives error saying incorrect library director.  Are we supposed to give library name, or point to the library path? I have tried both and it doesn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks..

It looks like we have to generate that library either using LEF or GDS view of the design. How can I make QRC accept input data in OpenAccess format when running from SocEncounter?? any thoughts?? Thanks for your time..

runQRC with OA will be supported from 9.1 when it supports QRC CCL command style. The CCL command file is where the library definition, cell name etc can be specified.

Since you are inside Encounter (DEF and cell lefs already available) any specific reasons to run on OA db?

Thanks for replying Vineet. Instead of LEF flow for encounter, we have OA flow for encounter. We wanted to easily transfer and modify designs among encounter and virtuoso for our mixed signal physical design flow, that's why we choose to do OA flow in encounter. Now, we have all our design saved in OA database, I am not sure how to do signoff timing using QRC in encounter without having to use LEF.

You will have to save the OA db and run QRC standalone for this. runQRC will support OA based CCL flow in EDI 9.1. I will send you an email with a sample QRC command file based on OA input for a standalone QRC run
