Generate DXF from PCB Editor Reply

I have a design in PCBEditor 15.7. One of our suppliers has asked us to supply a DXF version of the board to design a plate to fit over some components. Is there an easy way to generate a DXF? I don't have much familiarity with AutoCAD.

    Megan,

You should be able to simply output a DXF file from Allegro via the File > Export > DXF.. menu.  It requires a mapping file which maps the Allegro Class / Subclass over to the AutoCAD DXF Layers. (I believe it is available on all levels of the tool but I am not sure)

    • Display the layers you are looking to include in the DXF file (Makes the conversion file easier to maintain)
    • Open the DXF Out form (File > Export > DXF..)
    • Enter a name in the layer conversion file field and click on Edit. (This will bring up a GUI to perform the layer mapping)
    • After you make you mapping selection click on OK.
    • Update the Output Units and Accuracy then enter a DXF Output file name.
    • Click Export

After it outputs you could open up a new session of Allegro and import the DXF File you created to see if it contains what you are looking for.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike Catrambone
