    Starting an External Program Reply

    Hi All,

Is there a Skill command to start an external program?

For example can I open a text file using notepad using a skill command?

    Thanks All

    Hi All,

Wordpad can be started with --> axlUIEditFile(BOMListFile "BOM List" nil)

    but what about other programs?

Also, is it possible to use a Skill code in PCB Editor to run some functions in Allegro CIS?

Let say to generate a BOM in Allegro Capture.

    Thanks All

You can use the system or shell commands. I often use axlRunBatchDBProgram:

    axlRunBatchDBProgram("myCmdName", "myCmd.exe", ?noUnload t, ?silent t, ?noProgress t)

You'll not be able to use skill program inside Capture CIS but you should be able to create some very neat reports using Seagate Crystal Reports for templating.

    Best regards Ole
