    Orcad capture-conectivity error Reply

    Hello,

In Orcad Capture, a connection error was existing in my schematic. A +5V port was not connected to the resisor pin through any wire. But I couldn't find that error by running the DRC. I find that only in my manual check. In DRC setting, I enabled all the required fields. Then Why it is marking the error? Is it because its a global net? Please help.error.jpgerror.JPG

    Thanks,

    Harish

The DRC follows the settings for the ERC Matrix, using the Default settings, unconnected pins are flagged as Warnings only for Input pins and Input Ports.

Open the DRC, Tools>Design Rules Check, select the ERC Matrix tab, left-click on the boxes in the the "Unconnected" row to toggle round the Warning or Error, as required, then run the DRC.

The ERC Matrix settings are stored in the Capture.ini so they will normally be installation specific.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. But even then I couldn't catch that error in DRC.

    I tried this.

    Tools-----Create Netlist-----Other-----rinf formatters------Flag Single pin nets

Here, in this report I could able to find that error.

    Thanks,

    Harish

I think I see what you are talking about.  If your pin is coded as "power" then it auto-connects to the net name given by the pin name.  And, yes, it becomes a defacto global meaning it is allowed to be 'unconnected'.   Very powerful when you want that feature -- somewhat of an issue if you don't.

One thing you can do is code your parts to not use POWER as the pin type and then the DRC will check as you expect.
