Attendees of DesignCon 2011 received a sneak peek, and now Allegro PCB designers can officially check out a new power delivery network (PDN) analysis solution as part of the Allegro 16.5 release. Accurate, flexible, and highly integrated, Allegro PCB Power Delivery Network Analysis provides a unique design and analysis solution. With no translation of PCB designs required, users of either Allegro PCB SI or Allegro PCB Designer can analyze, edit, and re-analyze without changing their environment. When results meet expectations, edits can be committed to the PCB design without any translation. This integrated PCB design, signal integrity and power delivery network analysis environment is one of a kind.
In a previous TeamAllegro post IR drop capabilities were discussed. Additional capabilities in Allegro PCB PDN Analysis include pre-netlist power plane design and analysis where the PCB stackup can be optimized, and what-if scenarios can be run through to develop design guidelines for power and ground shapes in the final design.

And, of course, PCB designs can be evaluated throughout the design process to ensure that decoupling capacitor positions and values are optimized and that power plane impedance, which is measured at every power and ground pin, is within spec.

A half-day workshop is available to guide users through all the features available in this powerful, accurate, and highly integrated solution. You can contact your local Cadence Sales representative to sign up for a workshop today.
We look forward to your feedback on Allegro 16.5 and the new PDN analysis solution.
