Economic Recovery on the Way to the Airport

Comments(0)Filed under: OrCAD, Schematic, pspice, PCB Capture, "PCB design", "capture CIS"Last week, one of the members of TEAMOrCAD took a trip to China. The ride to the airport was provided by one of the local airport transportation service companies. In the course of talking with the driver on their way to the airport, Kevin (the driver) mentioned that the company was in the process of re-hiring drivers as business had been picking back up over the last many months; mainly experiencing an increase in business travelers. That got me thinking… a) there must be a blog in this somewhere… b) looking back over the last several months, there has been a noticeable increase in activity here at Cadence, an increase in interaction with OrCAD PCB customers, and even sales has told me they’re busier of late. I suspect that the transportation company’s increase in business travelers and recent hiring spree may not be indicative of widespread hiring in the EDA/PCB industry. But customers I’ve talked with, while not experiencing significant hiring sprees, have seen a marked increase in their workloads and some have even talked about the use of temporary or contract designers to help fill the gaps. Maybe we’re finally on the right track.

Share your thoughts on this.  What are you seeing / hearing in the industry? What’s happening where you work?

BTW…on the way to the airport they got a flat tire. After a quick change in the middle of the highway, they still made the airport on time. They chalked it up to just another bump on the road to economic recovery.
