Best Way to Learn "Stuff"

By Kenneth Chang, Core Comp AE, Team FED.

A great way to learn best practices and methodologies (besides doing it yourself, or knowing personal people who are your mentors) is to network with people in your own industry.  That way, you can see the lots of different flavors of what people are doing today, stay current and abreast of what people are really doing instead of reading internet articles that may contain outdated content.  That's why attending CDNLive, Cadence's User Group Conference is one of the best places to be every year.  If you're not aware of this conference, its speakers and participants are made up of customers who graciously share their engineering stories and well as Cadence folks who you may already know who are there.  Stories about what went right (and wrong), how people would improve their design & verification flows, data showing proof-in-the-pudding results, etc ... tons on exciting and fun live conversations happen that keep the learning atmosphere fun and interactive.  In addition to that, there's always a little relax time each day as the day winds down and fun events, to ensure all the attendees have an option to be entertained if they want to stick around.

One of my customers, Attila, the second place winner from an evenings' light-hearted game, shared this with a few people including me:

Photobucket

We had a good laugh about this - that's what CDNLive is all about - learning technical things and having fun at the same time. :)

This year, I'll be presenting at CDNLive Munich, based on of my large customer's experiences who was so gracious to allow the content to be shared.  So if you're there, hope to see you at my session!

Now, for other regions, check out our CDNLive website for all the different regions in the world where we hold this special once-a-year conference.  Hopefully you can make it.

And ... if you're interested in being a Presenter and/or Author, check out the CDNLive website for your respective region, and submit an abstract! (it's very short and concise, just a small paragraph and few bullet points, pretty easy once you have your basic idea of what you'd like to share to the user community)  If you do get accepted, free registration (so $0 cost to register for the full conference) is just ONE of the perks. ;)
