Video: Customers Share Views Of EDA360

Comments(1)Filed under: Industry Insights, Wind River, CDNLive!, EDA360, Open Integration Platform, EMEA, Denali

When the Cadence EDA360 vision paper was released three weeks ago, two questions that arose were "what do the customers think" and "where are the technologies that will enable this." A short video from the recent CDNLive! EMEA conference in Munich, Germany presents some answers to the first question.

In the video, four customers share their impressions of EDA360 and speak of the challenges they think it can help resolve:

  • Matthias Voigt, associate general manager of the engineering group at Renesas Electronics Europe, talks about how EDA360 provides a "wider scope" including software and systems, helping his company "provide a complete solution instead of just a piece of silicon."
  • Rob van Veen, director design technology at Sitel Semiconductor BV, speaks of working for a small company that needs an "infrastructure" that can facilitate IP reuse.
  • Subramani Kengeri, vice president of design solutions at GlobalFoundries, expects the EDA360 Open Integration Platform can make a "big difference" in qualifying and integrating silicon IP.
  • Dr. Jurgen Scheible, director of automotive electronics at Robert Bosch GmbH, notes the problems his company has had with IP integration and verification and speaks of the need for services as well as IP.

A direct link to the video is here.

As for the "where are the technologies" question, Cadence has announced the following since the vision paper was released April 27:

  • A collaboration with Wind River that links virtual prototypes to RTL simulation, emulation and acceleration, facilitating System Realization. My previous blog explains more.
  • The Open Integration Platform, an environment that supports SoC Realization by allowing IP creation, integration, and optimization. Cadence also introduced its first "IP stack" that combines design IP with a verification environment and driver software.
  • An agreement to acquire Denali Systems, whose memory IP, design IP, and verification IP will enhance the Open Integration Platform and accelerate the entire EDA360 vision.

Not bad progress for the first three weeks of a multi-year vision!

Hi Richard,
Two things I have noticed:
Cadence no longer refers to EDA360 as a "Manifesto" and Cadence no longer uses the tag line" The Global Leader in EDA360".
Two very good signs moving forward! And the Denali acquisition is simply brilliant!
Best of luck to you all!
