DAC Report: Interview With AMIQ And Update On Their “DVT” IDE

One of the benefits of the Design Automation Conference is the opportunity to follow the growth trajectory of partner companies with each successive show.  Last year our long time Verification Alliance partner AMIQ (a name familiar to many Specmaniacs) made their first appearance at DAC, and they were back in force this year with new employees and new capabilities. 

In this video I interview AMIQ's CEO Cristian Amitroaie, who reviews the highlights of AMIQ's "DVT" integrated development environment (IDE), including the new OVM to UVM Migration Wizard.  Cristian also notes how DVT can help IP creators and integrators rapidly scale up  their design and verification environments as foreseen in the EDA360 vision paper.  To be blunt: in the brave new world of giga-gate DUTs and UVM-guided verification, templates for VI or EMACS will soon be taking a back seat to smart IDEs like DVT.

Finally, what Cristian was too modest to say in the video is that they have been progressively building on their EU base, branching out into the USA, and into Israel, India and Asia.

These video interviews are a little more relaxed than the EDA Cafe ones and give you a better sense of what it would be like to work with the founder.  Posting them on YouTube is also nice so that the company or third parties can link to them.  Depending upon how many you do I would like to do a blog post that gathers up the set from DAC to complement my DAC Blog roundup at www.skmurphy.com/.../dac-2010-blog-coverage-roundup I think these may be the single most important social media related innovation to come out of DAC 2010. You managed the signal to noise issue better at 5 minutes than the 30 minute Conversation Central podcasts (although some of them are also quite good).
