Inside Cadence: "Stars & Strikes" charity event

Comments(0)Filed under: Functional Verification, charity benefit, Stars and Strikes festival

Allow me to make a brief digression from EDA technology blogging to give you all a peak at what goes on inside of Cadence.  Specifically, last Thursday May 21 here at the Cadence San Jose campus we had a welcome break in our daily routines for a good cause -- the annual "Stars & Strikes" charity festival.  Let me explain: each year, Cadence offices around the world adopt a single, local charity to be the focus their employee outreach efforts.  This tradition started years ago as a bowling tournament (hence the reference to "Strikes" in the program's name), and has since grown beyond the bowling event into a diverse series of amusing, employee-driven fund raisers held over several weeks, culminating in a big annual wrap-up event.

This year in San Jose the partner charity is West Valley Community Services, where the specific goal is to help them purchase a refrigerated van so they can better support their Food Pantry operations.  And what better way to aid this cause by paying $5 for 3 chances to dunk an executive!  ;-)

Finally, this isn't the only fun event to benefit West Valley Community Services -- they have an ongoing calendar of engaging fund raisers throughout the year -- the next one being a combined golf tournament and "duck race" (really):

Enjoy!
