Demo: How To Make Multiple Edits with "Apply All" in SoC-Encounter

Comments(7)Filed under: Digital Implementation, screencast, Attribute Editor, Apply All, SoC-Encounter

Today, I'm starting what I hope will be a series of screencasts where I demonstrate some things in SoC-Encounter that I think are better shown through a live demo than through written documentation.  We'll start off with a simple but somewhat hidden capability: Making edits to attributes across multiple selected objects all-at-once using the "Apply All" button on the Attribute Editor.

Great video, Bob! This is a wonderful idea and I look forward to future installments. "Apply All" is definitely one of those things that is best explained visually.

Hi Kari and vonkloud!  Thanks a lot for watching the video and especially for leaving a comment.  I appreciate it.  If you liked this video, check back on Tuesday for the next video in the series where I'll cover some Interactive Floorplanning topics.

This was very cool....this is definitely more effective then documentation; i'm sure it's more work, but far more effective.

Who would have known!  Even Encounter has Easter eggs - thanks for placing them in our basket - great way to present tips and tricks.

asedehi99- thanks so much for your positive comments. And Jack- you know, I never really thought about this feature as an Easter egg, but now that you put it that way I tend to agree with you in calling it an Easter egg. The Apply All behavior is mentioned in the Encounter Menu Reference, but is buried amongst a lot of non-essential information.  One could argue that the software could be more intuitive in this respect, but for now I'm glad the video can help explain the way this feature is intended to work.  And since a Google search for "encounter apply all" would find this video more people would hopefully be aware of it.  It was nice to meet you at CDNLive- hope to see you next year!

Eureka! I have always wondered why I couldn't get the Apply All button to work. Thanks for this tip and the other tips you have done since!
